The Coolmore colours were carried to victory at Warwick Farm on Wednesday by promising two year-old I Am Invincible filly Chianti, who was easy in the market, but won like a good thing.
Prepared by Kris Lees, Chianti won a recent barrier trial and ran right up to that when charging home to win this 1000 metre scamper running away by nearly two lengths.
Chianti was offered at Inglis Easter last year by Coolmore, but passed in shy of her $500,000 resrve and was retained to race.
“We’ve been really pleased with everything we’ve seen from her at home, she’s just been a bombproof filly,” said Kris Lees.
“We really liked her at the sale, but she was just too expensive for us and when she passed in Coolmore decided to send her to us.
“We’ll be looking for some of the nice fillies races at the back end of autumn for her now.”
Chianti was foaled and raised at Coolmore and is a half-sister to Group III placed Sweet Rockette being the fourth winner from South African Group III winner Sweet Sanette (SAfr).
Sweet Sanette has a yearling filly by I Am Invincible, a weanling filly by Fastnet Rock and is in foal to Pierro.
Chianti is the 11th two year-old winner this season for I Am Invincible, who has taken over the lead on the Australian General Sires List by earnings and winners.
