Well bred filly Safe Passage impressed on debut when winning the Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club & Trees Tavern (1200m) at Matamata on Wednesday for trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman brining a pedigree update for her Inglis Easter bound full brother.
Raced by James Chapman’s Jamieson Park, Safe Passage commenced well and sat outside stablemate Oneroa before careering away rounding the home turn and went on to record a comfortable 3.8 length victory over Autobahn, which closed well late.
“It was a good win. She is a promising filly,” Baker said. “She is nominated for the Manawatu Sires’ (Gr.1, 1400m) so we will see how she comes through this and assess where we go next.”
A daughter of champion sire Snitzel, Safe Passage is thesecond winner from Travessia (Jpn), a Deep Impact half-sister to Group I winner The Deputy and champion Japanese sire King Kamehameha.
She fetched $380,000 to the bid of bloodstock agent Bruce Perry and Jamieson Park at last year’s Inglis Easter Sale when offered by Arrowfield Stud.
Arrowfield Stud will offer her full brother at Inglis Easter 2020 as Lot 250.
