Saturday’s Group II Hyland Race Colours Hot Danish Stakes at Rosehill was an easy watch for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden and Triple Crown Syndications when they went one two with the Pierro mare Reelem In Ruby and the Mossman mare Moss Trip.
Much to the punters delight it was the favourite that defeated her 25/1 stablemate in a race that meant quite a bit to Reelem In Ruby’s rider Tim Clark who partnered Hot Danish to the majority of her 16 wins.
"It's nice to win the race named in her honour because she did so much for me and my career," Clark told AAP.
It was a first stakes win for mare Reelem In Ruby who was narrowly defeated in the Group III The Nivison at her most recent start.
"She is a very genuine little filly, she fights above her weight category, that's for sure. She just pins the ears back and has a real crack," Clark added.
The win of Reelem In Ruby came 40 minutes after the Snowdens landed the $1 million Golden Gift with the I Am Invincible filly Dame Giselle.
"She has been knocking on the door," Paul Snowden said.
"It's her tenth start in a race and she hasn't finished further back than third in her life.
"It was really vital to get that black type on her page for her breeding career."
Reelem In Ruby defeated Moss Trip by one and a quarter lengths with the Group I winner El Dorado Dreaming (Ilovethiscity) a long neck back in third.
Purchased by Triple Crown Syndications for $90,000 out of the Mayfield Thoroughbreds draft at the 2017 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Reelem In Ruby advances her record to 4 wins, 5 seconds 1 third from 10 starts with earnings of $547,620.
She previously went through the Erinvale Thoroughbreds draft at the 2016 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale where she was knocked down to Peter Ford Thoroughbreds (FBAA) for $75,000.
Reelem In Ruby is the second winner from as many to race out of the imported Giant’s Causeway mare Bobine (USA) a half-sister to the Champion turf filly in USA in 1995, Possibly Perfect (Northern Baby) whose 11 wins included the Santa Anita Yellow Ribbon Stakes, Del Mar Ramona H., Hollywood Park Gamely H., Santa Anita Santa Ana Santa Barbara H., and Arlington Park Beverly D Stakes.
Possibly Perfect is the dam of the stallion Promontory Gold (Gone West).
Bobine has had a troubled history in the breeding shed since Reelem In Ruby. Her only other live foal is a 2yo full brother named Bob who was passed in short of his $180 reserve at the 2019 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale after making $115,000 to the bid of James Harron Bloodstock at the 2018 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.
Reelem In Ruby becomes the 20th stakes winner for Coolmore Stud’s Pierro who is riding high this season with stakes winners Pierata, Shadow Hero. Arcadia Queen, Rock and Gamay.
