Dual GI winner Srikandi Confirmed for Inglis Chairman's Sale

Media Release - Thursday March 7

Dual Group 1 winner Srikandi is the latest headline entry to the 2019 Inglis Chairman's Sale.

SrikandiSrikandi, a daughter of world champion sire Dubawi, was an outstanding sprinter/miler during a stunning racing career.

As a 3YO she raced eight times for six wins, including twice at Listed level and once at Group 3 level when beating the older mares in the Glenlogan Park Stakes.

She also finished a close-up third in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap that season.

It was in her 4YO season where Srikandi truly came of age, winning the Group 1 double of the Stradbroke Handicap and Tatts Tiara during the Queensland winter carnival.

Srikandi (pictured) also finished second to champion sprinter Chautauqua in the 2015 Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Weight For Age.

In total she raced 15 times for nine wins and three minor placings for $2,377,600 prizemoney.

Srikandi, who will be offered in foal to American Pharoah, joins the likes of other headline mares such as Norzita, Snitty Kitty and Now Now as Chairman's entries.

Srikandi's I Am Invincible weanling filly will also be offered through Inglis, at the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale, on Thursday May 2.

Srikandi's only progeny to be offered at public auction so far is a Snitzel yearling filly who realised $400,000.

Inglis' NSW Bloodstock Manager Chris Russell said the Chairman's catalogue was shaping into "an outstanding collection of world class race fillies and mares''.

"It's extraordinarily rare for Group 1-winning mares to be offered at auction, let alone a mare of the calibre of Srikandi,'' Russell said.

"She's by one of the best stallions in the world from a Danehill-free family and as such will make appeal to all the leading investors in Australia and internationally.''

Entries to The Chairman's Sale close tomorrow, March 8.

The Chairman's Sale will be held at Riverside Stables on the evening of Friday May 3.

The Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale begins on Thursday May 2 with the weanlings and continues on the Sunday and Monday, May 5 and 6.
