Gold Coast-based 2KThoroughbreds will take an exciting new step in its evolution this month, with the first two yearlings under the banner of Sterling Bloodstock to be offered at the upcoming Magic Millions QTIS March sale (March 18-19).
2K Thoroughbreds, which is run by Managing Director Sterling Cincotta, has become a rising force in the racing industry at a rate of knots over the past 18 months.
In that time the organisation had two runners in this year's Magic Millions 2YO Classic (BETAIMA and CHAMPAGNE JET), one runner in the MM 3YO Guineas (UNCONDITIONAL) and an ongoing stream of individual winners from a small team of horses including promising Sydney 3YO colt BALLER.
Fittingly, one of the first yearlings to be offered for sale under the Sterling Bloodstock banner at the March QTIS sale is a full brother to both CHAMPAGNE JET and UNCONDITIONAL, in Lot 312 (Jet Spur x Jezzamine).
The other yearling that will go through the Magic Millions sales ring is Lot 299, a filly by Domesday out of Hot Doulton. Both lots are being offered on account of Raheen Stud.
"The QTIS March sale is going to be an exciting sale for us as we'll be approaching it from both ends of the spectrum for the first time as both a vendor and buyer," said Cincotta.
"We've had a lot of success racing with the progeny of Jezzamine so it's going to be a real thrill to see what this colt makes in the ring."
Jezzamine and Hot Doulton are two of three broodmares owned by Sterling Bloodstock, with the other being first season broodmare College Romance, who is currently in foal to Rubick at Coolmore Stud.
Jezzamine and Hot Doulton are also both currently in foal to first season sire Heroic Valour, the only Group 1 winning 2YO by Fastnet Rock at stud in Australia, at Raheen Stud.
Cincotta said the Magic Millions March sale would be the first step in a gradual growth for Sterling Bloodstock over the next 12 months.
"We may be active again in the Magic Millions June Broodmare sale, as this is a part of the business we're looking to grow," said Cincotta.
"We won't be growing it as the same rate as we have with 2K Thoroughbreds which has gone from one horse to 36 horses in the past 18 months.
"But there's certainly plans to grow the business over the next 12 months."
