Best On Breeding

Mark Smith - Friday November 22

The cerise, white crossed sashes and black cap of Bob Peters, Peter's Investments, may not be the once dominant force they have been for decades in Western Australian racing, but they are far from finished.

Peters has a live hope in Saturday's $500,000 Group II White Claw - W.A. Guineas (1600m) with the Michael Grantham-trained Olympic Park.

The son of Ocean Park won his first two starts before finishing third in the Listed Fairetha Stakes at Ascot on November 9. He was soundly beaten by two of Saturday's opponents, September Born (Playing God) and Exceed The Planet (Exceedance), but should be advantaged by the step up from 1400m to 1600m.

Olympic Park was a $460,000 purchase for Belmont Bloodstock Agency from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft at the 2023 Classic Yearling Sale.

Consigned on behalf of his breeder, Jamieson Park, Olympic Park, was the most expensive yearling by Ocean Park in 2023.

Olympic Park a $460,000 Inglis Classic yearling

He is the second foal of the stakes-winning Pentire mare, Sacred Rhythm, a descendent of the two-time Australian Broodmare Of The Year, Humour.

When mated with Kaoru Star, Humour left the  QTC Queensland Oaks and AJC Champagne Stakes winner Zasu, STC Rawson Stakes (x2), BATC Doomben Cup, and WATC Caris Diamond Quality Stakes winner Marceau, AJC Expressway Stakes winner Joy Love, and No Finer, who equalled the feat of her dam with four stakes-winner led by the VRC Australian Guineas winner and excellent sire, Pins.

When covered by Convamore (IRE), Humour produced the 1975 Perth Cup winner, Runyon.

The top-class Zasu failed to leave a stakes winner, although her daughter Zasu Rhythm has left a thriving line.

She is the dam of Group III VATC Sandown Stakes winner Any Rhythm (Western Symphony), who ran second in the Group 1 Goodwood at Morphettville.

Zasu Rhythm is also the dam of the stakes-placegetters Foxtrot (Rory's Jester) and Silverbeat (Distant Music), who upheld the family tradition with four stakes-winners headed by Ubeat, who won the Group II MRC Caulfield Autumn Classic, and Bella Martini (Stratum), winner of the Group II Kewney Stakes and third in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes.

Two further daughters of Zasu Rhythm produced stakes-winners.

Gin Sling left the Listed winner, Singapore Sling, and Blue Lady, the dam of Group III BRC Chairman's Hcp winner Humma.

Zasu Rhythm's daughter Bluegrass (Fasliyev) is the dam of Sacred Rhythm, who has a yearling filly by Hello Youmzain (FR) and was covered by Super Seth last spring.
