So You Think Weir Can Win Another Classic?

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday May 16
Champion trained Darren Weir is fresh from the success of winning the Group I SAJC Derby (Leicester) and Oaks (Sopressa) and this winner at Sandown on Wednesday might give him another classic contender.

Three year-old So You Think colt Heavenly Thought has been making steady progress this year since breaking his maiden at Sandown in February.

So You ThinkFavourite for the Benchmark 64 event over 1800 metres, he looked super impressive when pulling away from his older rivals to win by three and a half lengths.

Heavenly Thought is entered for the Group I BRC Queensland Derby next month and connections will no doubt give the race consideration after this strong staying performance.

A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Figtree Thoroughbreds draft for Weir and John Foote Bloodstock, Heavenly Thought is a half-brother to former high class Group II winner and Group I placed mare Mimi Lebrock being from good producer God Love It.

So You Think has had a hot run during the autumn reeling off five Group winners headed by his Group I stars Sopressa and D'Argento.

The 10-time Group I winner and dual Cox Plate hero stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $44,000.
