Windsor
Park shuttler Charm Spirit (IRE) was making news overnight with his second
winner Charming Kid, who won stylishly on debut at York with connections now
looking towards Royal Ascot.
Trained by Richard Fahey and ridden by Paul Hannagan, Charming Kid showed
plenty of speed and found the line strongly to win the five furlong contest by
half a length under his own steam.
"I'd be thinking of
the Norfolk Stakes, Charming Kid is quite sharp and
you need plenty of boot at Ascot," said Richard Fahey.
A 75,000 foal, who was then bought for 105,000 pounds at the Goffs Doncaster
Breeze Up Sale last month, Charming Kid is a half-brother to Group II winner
Juniper Pass and is the sixth winner from Child Bride, a daughter of Group II
winner Chapel of Dreams from the family of Group I winners Crowded House, Brando,
Ticker Tape and Reckless Abandon.
A triple Group I winning son of Invincible Spirit, Charm Spirit has made a
positive impression at Australasian yearling sales this year with his first
Southern Hemisphere bred yearlings.
Charm Spirit had 30 yearlings average $112,000 at Karaka Book 1 and also had
four yearlings average $2616,250 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the
Gold Coast.
His yearlings sold for up to $400,000 with his top seller a filly from Lady
Kipling sold by Windsor Park at Karaka and bought by Ciaron Maher / Waterford
Bloodstock.
Charm Spirit stands at a fee of $18,000.
