Blueblood Exceed and Excel Colt Wins for Go Bloodstock

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 10

The Go Bloodstock gold and white colours were in the winner’s list on Monday at Canterbury with the two year-old full brother to dual Group I winner September Run opening his account for the Waterhouse Bott stable.

Fourth at his first run last month, Steel Strike showed the benefit of that experience when he showed real courage to come again after being headed and win the 1250m maiden by half a length.

Steel Strike is a full brother to $2.5million earning dual Group I winning sprinter September Run and is also a half-brother to Group III ATC Magic Night Stakes winner Steel City.

September Run is a dual G1 winner, who was covered by Zoustar last spring in her first season at stud.

Retained to race by Go Bloodstock, he is the fourth winner from four foals to race from top producing Group III wining Street Cry (IRE) mare Pittsburgh Flyer, who was purchased by Go Bloodstock in conjunction with Paul Moroney Bloodstock for $500,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale, well before September Run came to light.

They got a great return from Steel City, who was sold as a yearling in 2022 for $700,000 and have a big payday looming if they choose to sell the weanling colt by I Am Invincible from Pittsburgh Flyer next year.

Pittsburgh Flyer appears to now be in foal to Snitzel after a miss to Exceed and Excel.
