Another stakes-winner raised and sold by Newgate Farm, Flying Artie gelding Flying Crazy claimed his second Black Type victory when charging home from near last to win the Listed BRC Daybreak Lover Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, Flying Crazy won the Listed Canberra Guineas two starts back, but floundered in the heavy ground when unplaced in the Group III ATC Carbine Club Stakes prompting connections to seek firmer footing.
Drawn the outside in the field of 12, Flying Crazy was allowed to settle and find his feet by Brad Stewart before unleashing a big finish to power and home and win by a length and a quarter.
He was one of three winners at Eagle Farm for the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou stable, with Ryan on track to celebrate the success.
“We’ve always had a really good opinion of him and he is perhaps well named as he can be a bit crazy at times,” said Ryan.
“He’s going good and that was the way to ride him, just let him settle, find his feet and get home.”
Flying Crazy will return to Sydney for now, but is likely come back to Queensland for the Group III Gold Coast Guineas next month.
A $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for WBF Thoroughbreds / Equi-Com Syndications, Flying Crazy was bred by SF Bloodstock in partnership and foaled and raised at Newgate Farm.

Forever Crazy comes from the family of Group I winners Shindig and Shinzig and her two year-old colt by Russian Revolution was also bought by Equi-Com Syndications for $80,000 last year at Inglis Easter.
Forever Crazy is the third stakes-winner for Flying Artie, who covered his biggest ever book of 201 mares last spring at a fee of $33,000.
