$2.2 Million Daughter of Snitzel Sets a New Mark for a Filly

Mark Smith - Wednesday April 6

Snitzel hit another home run when Arrowfield Stud’s filly from the Group 1 Willian Reid Stakes winner Silent Sedition set a new benchmark for a filly when knocked down to Hawkes Racing for $2,200,000.

The filly (lot 424) is the fourth million-dollar-plus yearling by Snitzel of the session and fifth overall.

Wayne Hawkes said the team had been the underbidder on several lots during the day.

“She looked more like a colt and was bit special,” Hawkes said.

“What more can I say about her other than what everyone already knows.

“(Silent Sedition) won a Group 1 against the boys at Moonee Valley. “They are special fillies that can win a Group 1 in open company.

“She was the star filly of the sale.

“What you expect and what you actually walk out of the door with are generally two different things.

“I have been flogged all day. It’s tough. We have been hammered today.”
