First Stakes-Winner for Russian Revolution

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 12

The Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday drew a big field of two year old fillies with Sydney visitor Revolutionary Miss stamping her superiority to become the first stakes-winner for Newgate Farm’s exciting young sire Russian Revolution.

Second at her two previous starts in the Group III ATC Widden Stakes behind Queen of the Ball and at Warwick Farm on debut, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained filly looked relaxed and happy in the mounting yard.

She travelled well in the run for Michael Dee settling midfield three wide with cover and let down strongly in the straight to power home and beat the favourite Miss Roseiano by the best part of a length with Deep Field filly English Riviera in third place.

Sportsbet reacted immediately to her performance installing the filly as co-favourite for the Blue Diamond at $6.50 with colts Prelude winner Lofty Strike (Snitzel) and Chairman’s Stakes winner Sebonack (Capitalist).

"With these two-year-olds it is about how they cope with their work and pressure of racing and she's one that keeps thriving,” said Peter Snowden.

"She's eating well, she's getting stronger, she's laughing at whatever you do to her. Good results today and to me she still wants to get further."

The Group I MRC Blue Diamond (1200m) is two weeks away and  Snowden just needs to keep his filly smiling.

"She’s there now. It is a matter of cuddling her. It is all about keeping her happy, keeping her eating well and if she's in the shape she's in now we'll be right,” he added.

With two seconds and a win from three starts, Revolutionary Miss has already won $234,400 in prizemoney for her big group of owners.

A $195,000 Magic Millions purchase for Triple Crown Syndications from the Sledmere Stud draft, Revolutionary Miss was bred by China Horse Club and is a half-sister to stakes-winner Equation from stakes-placed Onemorenomore mare Purcentage.

A yearling full brother to Revolutionary Miss was bought by Danny O’Brien Racing at Magic Millions this year for $250,000.

Russian Revolution

Revolutionary Miss is the fourth winner for Russian Revolution, who is the leading Australian first season sire by earnings and has 16 entries for Inglis Premier and five for Inglis Easter.
