Russian Conquest Ready for Magic Millions Grand Final

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 26

Newgate Farm’s young gun Russian Revolution will have a runner in the $2million Magic Millions 2YO Classic next month with his talented filly Russian Conquest making it two wins from two starts when saluting at Randwick on Boxing Day.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained filly won the $130,000 Max Lees Classic (900m) at Newcastle on debut in November and looks to have taken another step forward with this dominant victory.

She travelled smoothly for Regan Bayliss and forged clear over the final furlong to win the 1100m dash by a widening three lengths.

“She really franked what she has been showing us at home,” said Peter Snowden.

“She was a little bit fresh today, but that was an authoritative win ahead of the Gold Coast in three weeks time where she will make her presence felt.”

A $425,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Snowden Racing, Russian Conquest runs for a syndicate that includes Newgate Farm in whose colours she runs and has already won over $160,000 in prizemoney.

Bred by SF Bloodstock and partners, she was the equal highest priced yearling from the first crop of Russian Revolution and is a half-sister to US Group II place-getter Bourbon War being the third winner from three foals to race for her dam My Conquestadory (USA), but is her first winner in Australia.

A Group I winner of the Keeneland Alcibiades Stakes at two and fourth in the Group I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, Artie Schiller mare My Conquestadory was purchased by Newgate Farm and SF Bloodstock for $US1.5million at the 2016 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

After coming to Australia, My Conquestadory missed to Capitalist in her first season before producing Russian Conquest, then slipped the following year before producing a filly this spring by champion sire Snitzel.

She has since been covered by Exceed and Excel.

Russian Conquest looks a lovely filly to kick start the stud career of Snitzel’s dual Group I winning sprinter Russian Revolution., who was also trained by Peter and Paul Snowden.

Magic Millions have backed Russian Revolution to succeed in cataloguing 39 of his stock for the 2022 sale and with three winners already on the board headed by Russian Conquest the gamble is looking like a good one.
