Redoute's Choice Blueblood Wins on Debut

Mark Smith - Wednesday November 24

Two bluebloods fought out the finish of Industree Group Maiden over 1200m at Gosford on Wednesday.

In a driving finish, the Redoute’s Choice debutant Rejoiced edged out Extreme Choice’s sister Ultra.

Ridden by Tim Clark for Annabel Neasham, Rejoiced was unwanted in betting, starting at $11, the second-longest price of the six starters.

three lengths to make up in the final 250m, Rejoiced put in the big bounds to defeat Ultra (Not A Single Doubt) by a head.

Darby Racing’s Deep Field gelding Assiduity was a half-length back in third after being cramped for room in the final stages.

‘He is the sought of horse that is going to get over ground, so that is a real bonus over 1200m today.

“He was in tomorrow as well (at Wyong), but with the rain coming, we thought this was a nice race for him,” stable representative Todd Pollard

“The dam is a half-sister to More Joyous, is still a bull, so we will see how he goes in his race career.

Tim Clark said the son of Redoute’s Choice has scope for improvement.

“He is a nice colt; still a bit new and has to learn what the game is all about. But he will get there,” Clark said.

“Once he gets over further and works things out, he will develop into a lovely colt.

“He came off the bridle early, but I always felt he had more to give.”

Rejoiced carries the colours of his breeder, Kia Ora Stud, after being withdrawn from the 2020 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

Rejoiced as a yearling

His dam, Joy Toy, was a $320,000 purchase by Kia Ora from his breeder, John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud, at the 2018 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Singelton offered the daughter of Encosta de Lago at the 2014 National Broodmare Sale but took her home when she failed to make her $900,000 reserve.

The winner of a Gawler maiden from six starts, Joy Toy has six winners from as many runners.

She is a half-sister to the 8-time Group 1 winner More Joyous (More Than Ready) out of the Group 1 AJC Australian Oaks heroine Sunday Joy (Sunday Silence).

Equicom Syndications outlaid $50,000 for a More Than Ready (USA) colt out of Joy Toy at the 2021 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Joy Toy has a yearling colt by Russian Revolution and missed last spring.

Rejoiced is one of 40 live foals from the penultimate crop of the great Redoute’s Choice.
