Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 15

There were a lot of very happy Tricolours Racing Syndication owners at Rosehill on Saturday when talented Smart Missile filly Ballistic Lover led all the way to win the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes (1100m) claiming her first Black Type success and bringing an important update for her dam, who will be offered at Magic Millions.

Well prepared by Joe Pride, Ballistic Lover won her first run back from a spell at Doomben last month and freshened up again for this assignment she was all business from the jump.

Taken straight to the front by Regan Bayliss, she dominated her rivals to win by two and a half lengths over the strong finishing Shooting to Win filly Majestic Shot.

Ballistic Lover was an $80,000 Magic Millions Book Two purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Tricolours Racing & Syndications Pty Ltd and has an impressive record with five wins and three placings from 11 starts yielding over $284,000 in prizemoney.

Bred by the Kolivos family’s Lightning Thoroughbreds, Ballistic Lover was raised at Newgate and is the first winner for She’s a Sweetheart, a half-sister by Show a Heart to Group II winner Lean Mean Machine.

She’s a Sweetheart has a yearling filly by Snitzel and is in foal to Fastnet Rock after missing the year before to Pierro. She will be offered in the Newgate Consignment at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale Supplementary as Lot 1367.

Ballistic Lover is the 21st stakes-winner for smart Missile, who stands at Twin Hills Stud at a fee of $16,500 this spring.
