Break Through Win for Contributer 3YO

Media Release - Tuesday May 4

Promising staying three-year-old Quiet Michael broke maiden ranks over 1800m at Hawkesbury on Tuesday under a confident Josh Parr ride on a deteriorating Soft7 track.

The son of Mapperley Stud stallion Contributer was initially prepared by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, for whom he had three starts before joining champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller.

After finishing second at Canterbury in his first Australian start, Quiet Michael ($1.50) relished the step up in distance to 1800m and never gave punters a moments concern.

“He has taken loads of improvement from his first run over here,” Parr said.

“He gave me a great feel going down to the start and the conditions weren’t too much of a worry to him.

“He travelled like the winner the whole way. I swung down the side and it was a case of getting clear air from there. He was too good and I am glad to win on him.”

Out of the Zabeel mare Mojave Aster, Quiet Michael was purchased for $60,000 at Karaka Book 1 from the Pencarrow draft by Michael Hughes, who shares in the ownership with Queensland-based brothers Chas and Cam Stewart.

Quiet Michael holds a nomination for the Gr.1 Queensland Derby (2400m) at Eagle Farm on May 29. - NZ Racing Desk.
