High Hopes for I Am Invincible Filly

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 3

When astute Randwick trainer Les Bridge has a big opinion of a debut winner we all want to know a bit more.

I Am Invincible is the sire of exciting filly Skedaddle.

He saddled up three year-old I Am Invincible filly Skedaddle at Randwick on Wednesday and she delivered the goods as a short priced favourite.

Ridden by Chris Williams, she bounced straight to the front and kept up a good gallop to win the 1100m maiden by three-quarters of a length.

“She’s just a natural runner,” said Bridge of the filly, who reminds him greatly of his former star sprinting mare Avoid Lightning, a Group II winner and multiple stakes-winner that won nearly $1million in prizemoney.

“She’s got a swampy back, like Avoid Lightning and she might be just as good.

“She’s all legs at the moment and needs more time, she’ll be back to the paddock now for another short break.”

Skedaddle was retained to race by her breeders and is the third winner from three foals to race from Dal Dal, a winning three-quarter sister by Encosta de Lago to Group I winner Speak Fondly and half-sister to Group II winner Wild and Proud from the family of Australian Horse of the Year and Champion 2YO Bounding Away.

Dal Dal has a yearling colt by Sooboog and was covered last spring by Merchant Navy.
