A rare heavy track at Ascot was not enough to halt the 4-start winning streak of the Dundeel gelding Truly Great in Saturday’s Group III RJ Peters Stakes (1500m).
Ridden by Chris Parnham for Grant and Alana Williams, Truly Great came with a sweeping run from back in the field to overpower Flow (Street Cry) by one and a half lengths with Moschard (Moshe) the same distance back in third.
It was a successful debut at stakes level for the 5yo gelding who has been working his way through his classes.
Next Saturday’s Group 1 Railway Stakes beckons for the first crop son of Dundeel.
A half-brother to the Group II Western Australian Oaks winner Special Alert (Not A Single Doubt) the Bob Peters homebred advances his record to ix wins and two seconds from 10 starts with earnings of $265,125.
Truly Great is one of four winners from as many runners out of Truly Special (Jeune) who is a sister to stakes-placed Jeune's Reign out of the SAJC Morphettville Guineas winner Reigning Belle (Military Plume).
Truly Great becomes the 13th stakes-winner for Arrowfield Studs Dundeel.
