Exciting Snitzel filly Macroura kept her undefeated record intact after making it three wins in as many starts when taking out the Listed Yarraman Park Woodlands Stakes (1100m) at Randwick on Saturday.
A Breednet ‘One to Watch’ when winning on debut at Kembla last month, the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained filly was impressive winning her last start at Randwick and repeated that performance here when surging home to win by a dominant length and a half.
Winning rider James McDonald was full of praise for Macroura.
“She showed an exceptional turn of foot to put the race to bed pretty quickly,” he said.
A homebred for Aquis Farm, Macroura runs for a big syndicate of owners including Aquis Farm and has already returned over $167,000 in prizemoney.
She is the first winner for Zenaida, a half-sister by Zabeel to New Zealand Horse of the Year and triple Group I winner Vosne Romanee.
Her second foal is an Exceed and Excel colt that Aquis sold last year as a weanling for $240,000 at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale to Ampulla Lodge.
Ampulla Lodge offered the colt Inglis Easter as Lot 298 and he has now been sold, recorded as a $380,000 purchase for J Huynh.
Zenaida has a weanling filly by Snitzel’s Group I winning so Invader, so she is a three-quarter sister to Macroura.
Macroura is the 102nd stakes-winner for Snitzel, who is currently the leading sire in the country by earnings chasing his fourth straight Australian Champion Sire title and is also the leading sire of two year-olds.
Arrowfield stud have priced him at $165,000 this spring.
