The Listed ATC Lonhro Plate (1000m) a Randwick on Saturday produced a brilliant form reversal for the winner Supreme Idea, who led all the way to win by more than a length.
An easy winner on debut at Geelong on Boxing Day, the Anthony Freedman trained filly raced below expectation when finishing down the track in the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Preview, but bounced back to her best with this scintillating performance.
Tim Clark made full use of barrier one to send Supreme Idea to the front and she was strong to the line in beating blue-blooded Redoute’s Choice colt Mission River with quality I Am Invincible filly Dame Giselle in third place.
“It was all pretty straight forward,” Clark said.
“She jumped, travelled well, handled the Sydney way and coped with the conditions. She was well placed and did a good job.”
A $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Glastonbury Farm draft for Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock, Supreme Idea runs for Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing and has now won two of three starts earning over $115,000 in prizemoney.
Bred by Hilldene Farm, she is the second foal of unraced Snitzel mare Sweet Sister, a $200,000 yearling, who was purchased by Hilldene Farm for $550,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when carrying Supreme Idea.
A grand-daughter of dual Group I winning stayer Electronic, Supreme Sister is a full sister to Group I winner Sweet Idea and Group II winner Showtime, so it’s no surprise to see her quickly making her mark at stud.
The current yearling from Sweet Sister is a More Than Ready (USA) colt that will be offered at Inglis Easter by Milburn Creek as agent for Hilldene Farm as Lot 232.
Supreme Idea is the 51st stakes-winner for Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am invincible.
