Epaulette Filly Impresses at Gosford

Mark Smith - Wednesday December 4

Triple Crown Syndications have already tasted stakes success with Epaulette’s dual Group III winner Military Zone and they have another likely type in the filly Crimlet who broke her maiden at the second time of asking in an 1100 metre maiden at Gosford on Tuesday.

Third over 1200 metres on the same track when making her career debut a fortnight back, Crimlet was quick into her stride from an outside barrier and Tim Clark let her slide up alongside the pacesetting Pacific Ocean.Crimlet as a yearling

When allowed some more reign before the turn Crimlet let down impressively to defeat Matowatakpe (Dream Ahead) by two and a half lengths with the more favoured Triple Corn runner

Snitzify (Snitzel) one and three-quarter length back in third.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Crimlet was a $110,000 purchase by Triple Crown Syndications out of the Dartbrook Downs Thoroughbreds draft from book 2 of the 2018 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

She is the first foal of the unraced Bianconi (USA) mare Crimson Rush who is a half-sister to the Group 1 SAJC Goodwood Handicap and Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Platelet (Strategic).

Crimson Rush has not had a live foal since Crimlet. She was covered by Sooboog last spring.
