Juvenile Trial Watch – Gosford

Peter and Paul Snowden are flying under the radar with some high profile two year-olds that all stepped out at the Gosford trials on Wednesday morning with the four juvenile heats all won by horses from their Randwick stable sired by Snitzel (2), I Am Invincible and Written Tycoon.



The first foal of dual Group I winner Srikandi, Heroess jumped OK, but then showed some real brilliance to race away from her rivals opening up quite a lead in the middle stages. She was held together to the line to win by half a length and will gain good experience from this first public outing.Srikandi has a yearling filly by I Am Invincible to follow Heroess and has foaled this spring producing a filly by American Pharoah (USA).


The two stablemates were first and second all the way with Wild Ruler just ahead of War Memorial throughout and neither horses asked for much in the final furlong. Wild Ruler has won both of his trials now so looks ready for the races, while War Memorial won his only other trial back in September.

Wild Ruler has an international family with his dam Gypsy Robin, a two time Group II winner in North America that was also Group I placed, so she was obviously top class. She has no yearling for the sales in 2020 but produced a filly by American Pharoah this spring.



Retained to race by Canning Downs after passing in at the sales, Sancy made it two trials for two wins with a stylish effort that showed some racecraft. She jumped well and held the fence, but took a sit behind the eventual leaders before moving around them to surge to the line and win under a good hold wunning the fastest of the four two year-old heats. Sancy is the one and only living foal of Group III winning sprinter Thiamandi, who died in 2018.


Bartley was having his first outing and did everything right, running down the leader with minimal encouragement to win nicely. He is the first foal of a winning full sister to outstanding miler Mentality, who won over $2million and three Group I races at Randwick over 1600m. Arrowfield will offer his half-brother by Shalaa (IRE) at Magic Millions as Lot 671.
