Currently finishing his seventh season of shuttling to Coolmore Australia, Churchill has had a productive year and sired his 16th stakes-winner of 2024 when progressive three year-old filly Some Skye landed the Listed Grand Prix de Fontainebleau (1900m) at Chantilly.
Trained by Pierre Groualle, she was a last start winner and finished with a late rush to snatch a three-quarter length win, her first in a Black Type race taking her overall record to two wins and four placings from 10 starts.
The victory was well-timed, as Some Sky is entered in the upcoming Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale.
She is the 29th stakes-winner for Churchill and is from Group III placed Invincible Spirit mare Some Spirit, a full sister to stakes-winner One Spirit from the family of Group I winner Diktat.
Churchill stands at a fee of $19,800 this spring and was making news earlier this week when he his colt from Bagitol sold for $775,000 to be the second highest priced horse sold at the NZB Ready to Run Sale.
