The most expensive runner in the $500,000 MVRC Inglis Banner (1000m) for two year-olds at Moonee Valley on Saturday was Brazen Beau colt Ideas Man, who emerged the winner in a stirring finish.
Fresh from Group I success last night with Loving Gaby, Ciaron Maher and David Eustace were quickly back in winning form with Ideas Man, who travelled just off the pace for Mark Zahra before surging to the line to win by a head over Pride of Dubai filly Bella Nipotina with another Brazen Beau filly Arctic Ice holding third place.
“He had a nice run and was really well educated, he just took it all in his stride,” said Mark Zahra.
A $575,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Ciaron Maher Racing from the Blue Gum Farm draft, Ideas Man runs for a partnership that includes his breeder Des Pope and is a half-brother to smart stakes-winner Chloe in Paris.. He is the seventh winner from former brilliant Group II winning Rubiton filly Innovation Girl.
“He looks like a cheap horse now,” said Ciaron Maher.
“He was bred by Des Pope and we actually trained Chloe in Paris, who was very good. The dam died a couple of weeks ago and he is her last foal.”
Ideas Man is the fourth stakes-winner for I Am Invincible’s champion son Brazen Beau, who stands at Darley Victoria at a fee of $49,500.
