Metro Winners for Newgate Young Guns Dissident and Sizzling

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 16

The Warwick Farm meeting on Wednesday in Sydney produced smart metropolitan winners for both Dissident and Sizzling.

Dissident is the sire of PanchoStakes-placed at his final run last season at two, the Chris Waller trained Dissident gelding Pancho indicated he was on track for a good spring campaign when scoring a neck win beating older horses in the Benchmark 78 event over 1600m at his second run back from a spell.

Bred by Sledmere Stud, Pancho made $150,000 as a weanling at the Magic Millions National Sale when bought by Hancock Quality Bloodstock (FBAA)/Newgate Farm and was then re-offered by Newgate at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale fetching $165,000 to the bid of Laurel Oak Bloodstock.

With two wins from seven starts, Pancho has won nearly $90,000 already for his lucky owners and is the first winner for Group III placed Written Tycoon mare Novel Dancer, who has already foaled this spring producing a colt by another young Newgate sire in Russian Revolution.

Sizzling produced the winner of the next race when the Mark Newnham trained Blazing Miss returned from a spell in fine style as favourite.

Sizzling is the sire of Blazing MissStakes-placed last season at two, Blazing Miss was a class above her rivals finding the line strongly to win the 1100m Benchmark 70 event by more than two lengths.

A $120,000 Inglis Classic purchase for De Burgh Equine / Darby Racing from the Newgate Farm draft, Blazing Miss has the overall record of two wins and four placigns from nine starts with earnings just shy of $140,000.

She is the fourth winner from Jahre, a grand-daughter of blue hen Procrastinate, dam of multiple Group I winner Laisserfaire and Group winner such as A Time for Julia.

Jahre was covered again last spring by Newgate’s Sizzling, who stands this spring at a fee of $11,000.
