Prepared by John Gosden, Anapurna won the Listed Lingfield Oaks Trial leading into this and showed plenty of heart to nose out Pink Dogwood after being headed to win by a neck. She has now three of her four starts.
"Anapurna has sharpened enormously from Lingfield, but you can't overtrain a filly like this. She's just taken time to come to herself and is incredibly brave. I thought coming past the furlong pole we'd be a valiant second or third, but she dug deep and the jockey (Frankie Dettori) dug deep," said John Gosden.
A homebred for Meon Valley Stud, Anapurna is the best of five winners from stakes-winning Montjeu mare Dash to the Top, a half-sister to the dam of dueal French Group I winner Super Boarding.
She has an interesting pedigree given her close inbreeding to Sadler's Wells 3 x 3 which is reminiscent of the 2017 Epsom Oaks winner Enable (Sadler's Wells 3 x 2), who subsequently won the Group I Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp twice.
Anapurna is the first European classic winner for Frankel and is his seventh Group I winner.
Frankel is available for Southern Hemisphere covers this year at Banstead Manor Stud at a fee of 80,000 pounds.
