Exciting
young sire Sidestep sired his first
Northern Hemisphere stakes-winner overnight with promising two yea-rold colt
Real Appeal winning the Listed Prix La Flèche at Maisons-Laffitte.
A dual winner already in France for owner Theresa Marnane, Real Appeal tracked
the leader and was shaken up in the final 200m to clinch victory in the five
furlong sprint by a head.
Speaking after the race, Con Marnane suggested the Group II Coventry Stakes at
Royal Ascot will be the next target for the colt, who has won, who has had four
starts for three wins and a second.
Bred by Gestut Kussaburg and bought as a foal at Arqana by Con Marnane, Real
Appeal is the second foal out of the winning Green Desert mare Runaway Sparkle,
a grand-daughter of Group III Park Hill Stakes winner Mistle Song.
A Champion two-year-old himself, Sidestep stands at Telemon Thoroughbreds in
Queensland in association with Darley and is already the sire of Group I Golden
Slipper winner Kiamichi from his first Australian crop.
The son of Exceed and Excel will be Champion Australian First Season Sire of
2019 and stands this spring at a fee of $22,000.
