Another Win in Group 1 Feature for LA Karaka Graduate

Media Release - Monday March 11
LA's Karaka drafts have provided another winner of the Sistema (formerly Diamond) Stakes, after Yourdeel (Dundeel-Miss Zapper by Red Ransom) scored a tough win in the 2YO (1200m) Group 1 contest at Ellerslie on Saturday.

YourdeelPinhooked from Dan Myers draft at the May 2017 NZB Weanling Sale by LA for $30,000, the Dundeel youngster was bought by the sharp eye of Kapiti Coast horseman Chris Rutten from LA's 2018 Karaka Book 1 draft for $100,000.

LA's Sam Williams fondly recalls Yourdeel during the horse's seven months at LA preparing for Karaka.

"He had a grouse walk and when we'd take the horses out to their paddocks I used to make a point of watching him gallop after he'd been let off his lead. He had this lovely low effortless way of moving, it was pretty to watch".

With a Group 1 win to add to his Listed success in the Matamata Slipper and third placing in the Karaka Million, Yourdeel will look to make a compelling case for champion 2YO honours when he lines up in the Group 1 Courtesy Ford Manawatu Sires Stakes in a fortnight.

By winning the Sistema, Yourdeel was following in the hoofsteps of Dal Cielo ( Per Incanto -Cent From Heaven by Centaine) s in 2015.

Meanwhile LA's 2YO's are enjoying another strong season after a highly productive 17/18 which has to date delivered 12 individual winners including the stakes winning Karaka graduates Global Exchange and Sir Nate.

On Show (Showcasing- Bondi Beauty by Danasinga), an impressive winner of the juvenile event at Trentham on Saturday, was bred by LA and sold at last years NZB RTR sale, while other promising types include the Karaka Million runner Louis Luck and the Per Incanto filly Glenda Goodwitch.
