Champion Filly, in foal to Champion Sire, to be offered at Inglis Chairman's Sale

Breednet - Tuesday January 22
Two-time Group 1 winner Norzita is the latest high-profile entrant confirmed for this year's Inglis Chairman's Sale – in foal to dual Champion Australian sire Snitzel.

NorzitaTrained by Bart Cummings and raced by the partnership of Dato Tan Chin Nam and Tunku Ahmad Yahaya, Norzita (Thorn Park x Visique) won the Group 1 Flight Stakes as a spring 3YO before returning the following autumn to win the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes.

She was also twice Group 1-placed against the older horses, finishing third in Sacred Falls' 2013 Doncaster Handicap and third – beaten in a photo finish - behind mighty mares Appearance and Red Tracer in the Coolmore Classic the same autumn.

Her 3YO season saw her defeat 15 individual Group 1 winners over nine starts.

Norzita was crowned Champion Australian 3YO Filly of 2012/13 as a result.

Overall Norzita raced 12 times for four wins, at distances ranging from 1200m to 2000m, and six minor placings for almost $1m in career earnings.

Her talent and consistency is further illustrated by the fact she contested eight individual Stakes races during her career and never finished out of the placings.

The now 9YO Norzita has a 3YO colt by So You Think, Carif, in training with Peter and Paul Snowden, while her 2YO son by Fastnet Rock, Confidant, realised $660,000 at the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

Duncan Ramage, Bloodstock & Racing Manager to the Estate of the Late Dato Tan Chin Nam, expects Norzita to appeal to a huge cross section of major breeders, both domestic and international.

"This is purely a commercial decision on our behalf due to the change in nature of the business since the passing of Dato,'' Ramage said.

"I believe that she represents a great opportunity and I expect whoever buys her is going to benefit in a big way.

"She is in foal to Snitzel, due in August, and it's very rare for us to send a mare to such a high-priced stallion, but it looks an ideal mating for her.''

Inglis' NSW Bloodstock Manager Chris Russell described Norzita as "an outstanding proposition".

"She's the complete package,'' Russell said.

"For starters, she was the Champion 3YO filly of a crop that is regarded as one of the best in Australian racing history.

"She is a beautiful mare, that is producing good-looking stock – her Fastnet Rock yearling last year was a particularly good colt and is apparently well regarded at Lindsay Park.

"Just for good measure, she is completely free of Danehill blood and her third dam, Summoned, is one of the most influential mares in the recent history of Australian breeding."

Norzita joins Group 1 performer Snitty Kitty amongst the early confirmations for the Chairman's Sale, which will be held at Riverside Stables on the evening of Friday May 3.
