Aquis
Farm enjoyed a sensational day at Flemington on Saturday sharing in the
ownership of Victoria Derby hero Extra Brut and Coolmore Stud Stakes winner
Sunlight as well as G1 place-getters Fundamentalist and Lean Mean Machine
with Aquis owners Tony, Justin and John Fung all on hand to enjoy the rewards
achieved from years of careful planning and investment in Australian
bloodstock.
"Tony and his team just had a great day up at the farm following our success at
Flemington and we have been assessing our current roster of stallions and sire
prospects in training which include horses like Lean Mean Machine, Sesar and
Siege of Quebec," said Aquis CEO Shane McGrath.
"Trapeze Artist represented Aquis in The Everest and ran a terrific race to
finish second to Redzel, however we have decided not to pursue him going
forward as a stallion prospect.
"He is obviously a very talented son of champion sire Snitzel with a great
Group I record, but given the promising stallions already on our roster
including several sons of Snitzel and the young stakes horses in training, plus
a new crop of exciting unraced two year-olds, we believe Trapeze Artist is not
the right horse for us at this time."
The new season Aquis two year-olds include Exceed and Excel colt Chicago Bull,
who will race later this week at Flemington and Snitzel colt Cardiff, who is in
work with Gerald Ryan and won his first trial last month in impressive style.
A triple Group I winner of over $5million in prizemoney, Trapeze Artist is
undoubtedly one of the most appealing sire prospects in the country and will be
an asset for whatever stud can strike a deal with his owner and breeder Mr Bert
Vieira.
"Mr Vieira has bred an outstanding horse and we wish him the very best of luck
in the future," added McGrath.
