Four Winners in Four Days for Fiorente

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 29
Sun Stud's decision to gamble on Melbourne Cup and Australian Cup winner Fiorente (IRE) is a decision that might pay big dividends with the son of champion German sire Monsun posting four winners in the past four days from his first crop of three year-olds.

FiorenteThe Chris Waller trained colt Mangione got the ball rolling on Friday night when scoring at Canterbury over 1900 metres at his third start. A $150,000 Inglis Easter Session II purchase for Star Thoroughbreds on the advice of the late Steve Brem, he was offered by Yarraman Park and is from unraced Excellent Art (GB) mare Symphony Strings.

The Robbie Laing trained colt Stars of Carrum became the first stakes-winner for Fiorente when taking out the Group II MVRC Drummonds Golf Vase and runs this Saturday in the Group I VRC Victoria Derby, read about him here.

The winning run continued on Monday with the Andrew Noblet trained filly Moor Gait winning at Benalla over 1606 metres, while the Kris Lees trained gelding Continuation opened his account at Tamworth over 1600 metres as favourite.

Fiorente stands at a fee of $17,600 this spring and for breeders looking for a classic type sire with considerable potential for upside, he makes plenty of appeal.
