Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 13
A full brother to Group II MRC Autumn Stakes winner Hawkshot, two year-old Fiorente (IRE) colt Power Scheme showed similar stakes ability when surging home to score a narrow win in the Listed ATC Fernhill Handicap at Randwick on the second day of The Championships.

Trained out of Lindsay Park by the Hayes Daberning partnership, Power Scheme was a close last start second in the $125,000 Mornington Polytrack Sires Stakes and handled the class rise to this 1600 metre Black Type contest with ease.

Fallen riders Andrew Adkins and Glyn Schofield were checked for injury with Adkins taken to hospital suffering concussion although was conscious.

Bred and retained to race by Sun Bloodstock, Power Scheme has a win and two placings from five starts with prizemoney in excess of $117,000. Rosa Perlato was covered by another of the Sun Stud sires last season in Thronum.

Power Scheme is the third stakes-winner for Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente, who stands at Sun Stud and covered 169 mares last spring. With his oldest progeny just three year-olds, the son of Monsun is doing a fine job with better expected as they mature.
