Booming Stakes Debut

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 13
The Listed MRC Inglis Debutante Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday was won in sensational style by Spirit of Boom filly Champagne Boom from Biscara, a daughter of first season sire Rubick.

The leading first crop sire last season by winners, Spirit of Boom showed he will be a force again with his juveniles this season after Champagne Boom turned in a sparkling debut.

Champagne Boom as a yearlingThe Hayes / Dabernig trained filly was tardy from the gates, but overcame the disadvantage to power through the field and score a dominant two and a half length win for Craig Williams in the 1000 metre dash.

"She was slowly away, but Craig rode her quietly through the field and she was very strong to the line," said Ben Hayes.

A $90,000 Magic Millions purchase for Lindsay Park Racing from the Eureka Stud, Champagne Boom runs for an all women's syndicate so will doubtless be targeted towards the Gold Coast in January.

Bred by Eureka Stud, she is the second winner from Lucky Toss, a half-sister by Dash for Cash to Group II winners Scenic Warrior and stakes-winner Stanzaic.

Lucky Toss has a yearling filly by Headwater and is due to foal to Spirit of Boom.

Champagne Boom is the sixth stakes-winner for Spirit of Boom, who stands this spring at Eureka Stud at the increased fee of $55,000.
