Menari to Stand at Newgate Farm This Spring

Media Release - Tuesday August 21

Newgate Farm is delighted to announce an exciting late addition to the 2018 stallion roster with freakishly talented Snitzel sprinter Menari joining the team.

'Menari the Ferrari' in full flight"We are committed to standing the very best and fastest sons of champion sires and Menari, an incredibly brilliant son of Snitzel, certainly fits this mould. He is the horse that we have consistently rated as the most talented colt of his year and the most desirable stallion prospect of his generation," said Newgate Farm General Manager, Bruce Slade.

A homebred for Corumbene Stud's George Altomonte, one of Australia's pre-eminent breeders who also bred and sold leading sire Sebring, Menari was prepared by Snitzel's trainer Gerald Ryan. Menari was a star from day one scoring a brilliant debut win at Randwick in January and going on to be the first colt home in the Golden Slipper.

When he returned in the spring, Menari was breathtakingly brilliant winning the Listed ATC The Rosebud (1100m) in a breeze under 60.5 kg. He cemented his elite status when annexing the Group II ATC Run to the Rose (1200m) in a blistering 1:08.44 just 0.05 seconds off of All Our Mob's Rosehill 1200 metre track record that has stood for more than 20 years.

Menari will be exceptionally well supported by Newgate and its powerhouse partners SF Bloodstock, China Horse Club, and Kingstar Farm in additional to George Altomonte who will retain a significant portion of the horse.

"Menari is a machine. He's got the blood, looks and blinding speed. He's what Australian breeding is based upon. Exceptional talent breeds exceptional talent," commented China Horse Club's Michael Wallace.

"The partnership has committed some 60 mares to Menari this season, comprising some of the most elite mares from each of their respective broodmare bands. Such is the belief we all share in this exceptional animal," Slade concluded.

Newgate is in the process of finalising Menari's syndication, with a small number of shares available to outside breeders.

Menari will stand at a fee of $27,500 inc GST.
