Zoustar
is making a fast start to the new season and gave us a ‘One to Watch’ on Friday
when the half-sister to Group I ATC Australian Derby runner up Harper,s Choice
saluted at Goulburn.
Third on debut at Kembla last month, the Gerald Ryan trained filly Zourhea was
stepped up to 1600 metres for her second outing and had no trouble beating
older rivals to cast off maiden status by three-quarters of a length.
A $52,500 Inglis Classic purchase from the Vinery Stud draft for David Raphael,
Zourhea is a half-sister to talented stakes-winning stayer Harper’s Choice and
is the fourth winner from Group I winning South American mare Oxigenada (ARg).
Zourhea is the first winner for Zoustar at the 1600 metre journey, a distance
that many of his progeny will be looking towards as their classic season
unfolds and lucrative Guineas races are decided.
The Champion Australian First Season Sire of 2017/2018, Northern Meteor’s best
son Zoustar is fully booked this spring at Widden Stud at a fee of $60,500.
