Valiant Stud Launches in the Hunter Valley

Media Release - Tuesday May 8
After five years in the role of Assistant Stud Manager at famed thoroughbred nursery, Segenhoe Stud, Fergal Connolly has realized the dream of establishing his own farm.

Valiant Stud is an independent boutique Stud which provides premium breeding and trading services, with the goal of achieving the very best results for our clients.

Fergal ConnollySet on 200 acres of pristine horse country, Valiant Stud is located in the heart of the Hunter Valley - nestled between prominent stallion farms Newgate and Darley.

In choosing the name Valiant "possessing or showing courage or determination", Fergal Connolly has set the tone for the business going forward.

"I have been waiting for the right opportunity to present itself and when this property became available it was just the perfect fit," said Valiant Stud General Manager, Fergal Connolly.

Working under the tutelage of respected horsemen, Royston Murphy and Peter O'Brien at Segenhoe, Fergal has gained invaluable experience in all facets of the elite commercial thoroughbred industry.

"I am very grateful to the Maloney family and the team at Segenhoe Stud. When you work for a successful operation such as the one they have established, you can't help but benefit from your surroundings," Connolly said.

Valiant will be offering a full range of services to our clientele - yearling agistment and preparation, sales consignment, broodmare agistment, walk outs, racehorse spelling, weaning and weanling preparations and we will also act as a vendor at all major sales.

"We have a stable complex with 20 boxes, day yards, fenced paddocks and a plentiful water supply for irrigation. We certainly are excited by the setup," Connolly continued.

"I aim to be a hands-on manager and provide excellent communication to owners so they can be closely involved with their horses. Whether it be setting a mare up for cover or selling a yearling at the sales, I believe it is important to be transparent and forthright during the whole process."
