Aquis Farm has wasted no time in securing Trapeze Artist for its slot in The Everest later this year.
After owner Bert Vieira confirmed on Monday that Trapeze Artist would race on next season, Aquis Farm swooped to lock in the current $5 second favourite for the $13 million sprint. Reigning Everest champion Redzel remains the bookmakers' top pick at $4.80.
The Everest is still some five months away, but trainerGerald Ryanhas signalled the race will be the Snitzel colt's primary spring target.
"I'm just glad to be training the horse," Ryan said.
"How we get to The Everest I'm not sure yet. It will depend on programming and how the horse comes up.
"All I know is that he needs to be fit to run well."
Aquis have a connection to Trapeze Artist via their stallion Domesday. In winningCanberra's Group III Black Opal Stakes (1200m) at two, Trapeze Artist registered Domesday's first stakes success as a broodmare sire.
