New Stakes-Winner for Fastnet

Irish bred Fastnet Rock gelding Fastnet Tempest (IRE) scored his first Black Type win when taking out the Listed MRC Anniversary Vase at Caulfield on Saturday for the Hayes / Dabernig training partnership.

Fastnet Tempest - Grant CourtneyCarrying the colours of OTI Racing, he improved at his third run back from a spell to score a half head win in the 1400 metre feature, pleasing connections with his return to form.

"In the Newmarket, on the side he was on, nearly everything has come out and run really well that finished behind Redkirk Warrior," co-trainer Ben Hayes said.

"Catchy's come out and won a Group Two, Thronum's run really well and there's a couple of others as well, including this fella.

"His last start was a forget run and Craig (Williams) made an early, decisive move that won him the race.

"It's just fantastic to get a win with him."

Previously trained in the UK by William Haggas, Fastnet Tempest has the overall record of six wins and five placings from 19 starts.

The 135th stakes-winner for Fastnet Rock, he is the best of five winners from Dame Blanche and is a half-brother to the dam of Group III winner Sweety Dream.
