$1million for Blueblood Snitzel Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 8

Arrowfield Stud produced their first million dollar offering at the Magic Millions on Wednesday when a stylish Snitzel colt from Dream Date was knocked down for $1million to China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock & Partners.

$1million Snitzel colt from Dream Date.

The Newgate / China Horse Club partners have had a lot of success with Snitzel colts that have raced successfully and then gone to stud with Russian Revolution, Wild Ruler and In The Congo all winning Group I races before retiring to stand at Newgate.

“We thought he was one of the top colts in the sale and he fetched that type of money. He’s an outstanding prospect,” said Paul Messara of Arrowfield Stud.

“He’s that colonial-style of sprinting horse. Looks a fast, early type. He was well liked and certainly one of the standouts of the complex.”

The colt is a full brother to progressive four year-old gelding Redford, who made $1,050,000 at this sale in 2022 and was won five of seven starts including a last start win in the $250,000 Magic Millions Rising Stars last Saturday.

He is also closely related to champion sire Not a Single Doubt being from his placed half-sister Dream Date, with this branch of the Easy Date family also producing Group I winners King’s Legacy and Oohood.

Dream Date had a colt by Dundeel last year and was then covered by Maurice (Jpn).
