Newgate Sell $1.7Million Snitzel Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 8

Coolmore have become fast fans of Snitzel thanks to his Group I winning sons Shinzo (Golden Slipper) and Switzerland (Coolmore Stud Stakes) with Tom Magnier swooping on another outstanding colt by the champion sire at Magic Millions on Wednesday.

$1.7million Snitzel colt from Fashion Faux Pas (USA).

Consigned by Newgate Farm, the second foal of imported US juvenile stakes-winner Fashion Faux Pas (USA) was knocked down to Magnier at $1.7million.

Magnier likened the colt to Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Switzerland, who is also from a US bred mare and trained by Chris Waller, who will also be preparing this colt.

“Very happy to get that horse and the Snitzel’s have worked very well for us,” Magnier said.

“All the team liked him and Newgate know how to breed a good horse.

“This horse will be trained by Chris Waller. Chris thought that he could be a horse along the lines of Switzerland. Very athletic, plenty of scope.”

The good looking colt was bred by a syndicate of Newgate clients from Fashion Faux Pas, who is by the AP Indy stallion Flatter and was sourced from the 2020 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale for $US310,000 by James Harron Bloodstock/ Byron Rogers.

Her first foal is a King’s Legacy two year-old filly that was sold by Newgate at this sale last year to Peachester Lodge for $110,000 and she produced a filly by Extreme Choice last spring before being covered again by Snitzel.
