First Win for Hartnell Half-Sister by Zoustar

A half-sister to outstanding four time Group I winner Hartnell (GB), blue-blood Zoustar filly Dominetta opened her account at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with a powerful all the way win.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Dominetta was third at her only previous start behind stablemate Too Darn Lizzie in the $500,000 Magic Millions Debut for fillies back in January over just 900m and appreciated the 1200m of this assignment.

Tuned up with three trials, she was well primed for her return and enjoyed a smooth run in the lead for Tim Clark kicking on strongly when challenged to win by a length in the Arrowfield stud colours.

 

Dominetta made $500,000 at Magic Millions when offered by Arrowfield and knocked down to Paul Messara Racing and runs for Arrowfield in partnership with her US based breeder Mt Brilliant Farm.

“I think there is a lot of upside for this filly when we get her out in trip,” said Adrian Bott.

“She’s a homebred that went through the sales and then the decision was made to retain her and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to train her as she is a quality filly and can no doubt add to the family for them going forward.”

Dominetta was a $500,000 Magic Millions purchase.

Dominetta is a half-sister to not only Hartnell, but also Group I placed stakes-winner Roz and stakes-placed Ursula being the sixth winner from nine foals to race from Debonnaire (GB), a winning Anabaa mare from the family of Champion European 3YO Suave Dancer.

Debonnaire came to Australia in 2020 and Dominetta is her first foal born here in Australia. She subsequently produced a two year-old filly by Pierro called Britt that is also being trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott and also has yearling Snitzel colt.

She missed to Justify (USA) last year and earlier this year was exported back to the USA.
