Following on from the August Yearling Sale, the v.2 Yearling Sale took place at Deauville overnight with nearly 80% of the 170 lots offered being sold and the top priced yearling of the session was sired by Starspangledbanner.
Eagerly awaited in the ring, the filly from Dark Angel mare Spanish Angel was offered by Fairway Consignment on behalf of Domaine de Quétieville and was knocked down for €115,000 to Eric Hoyeau, bidding on behalf of Arthur Hoyeau.
She comes with a big pedigree as Spanish Angel is a full sister to Group I winner Mangoustine from the family of dual Group I winner Flotilla.
“She’s a lovely filly that really stood out from the others,” said Eric Hoyeau.
“Arthur couldn’t be here so he put me in charge of this purchase for a partnership of owners.”
Starspangledbanner is back in Australia for Coolmore this spring at a fee of $44,000 and is enjoying strong results this year siring 10 stakes-winners worldwide in 2024, three of them Group I winners California Spangle, Beauty Eternal and Puchkine.
