Cambridge Stud Shuttlers Shine at Deauville

Cambridge Stud shuttle sires Almanzor (Fr) and Hello Youmzain (Fr) were both in top form at Deauville in France on Sunday with a new stakes-winner for the former and a new winner for the latter.

Three year-old filly Almara took out the Group III Prix de Psyche (2000m) by three-quarters of a length taking her overall record to two wins and five placings from eight starts.

Trained by Carlos and Yann Lerner, Almara had placed in Group races at her previous three starts so was well overdue for a win.

 

Almara is the 18th stakes-winner for Almanzor and is a half-sister to Group III winner Ilanga from stakes-placed Molly Mara.

A champion son of Wootton Bassett, Almanzor stands at a fee of $30,000.

 

Kodiac’s brilliant sprinter Hello Youmzain has his first SH bred runners here next season and has made a positive start in Europe with two year-old colt Misunderstood making a winning debut over 1500m at Deauville to become the eighth winner for his sire.

 

Trained by Mario Baratti, Misunderstood is a half-brother to Group II winner Waldbiene and stakes-winner Urwald being the seventh winner from eight to race from top producing Group II placed mare Waldjagd, who comes from a family bristling with Group I winners such as Waldgeist, Waldpark and Masked Marvel.

Hello Youmzain stands at a fee of $35,000.
