Pinhook Winners Inglis Ready 2 Race

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 16

There were some fascinating pinhook results at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale this week with a filly that was the equal third cheapest of 23 by champion sire Written Tycoon sold at Inglis Easter this year topping the sale at $1million.

The Written Tycoon filly from Soriano looked like this as a yearling when selling for $200,000.

The filly from Group I winner Soriano was bred by Yulong and consigned in their draft to Inglis Easter where she was purchased by Dean Harvey’s Baystone Farm.

She breezed impressively in 10.5 seconds and was purchased by Yulong for $1million.

Baystone Farm sold her back to Yulong for $1million.

It is not unusual for farms to buy back horses they have co-bred and sold as yearlings for large sums of money, but it’s usually studs purchasing back colts as stallion prospects such as Arrowfield purchasing The Autumn Sun or Coolmore purchasing Storm Boy, so in this context it is somewhat unusual in that she is an unraced filly.

Shane McGrath had a big result with a colt from the second last crop of champion Hong Kong sire Deep Field out of imported stakes-winner Sheer Pleasure (USA).

Deep Field colt from Sheer Pleasure (USA) looked like this as a yearling selling for $260,000.

A $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Newgate Farm, he was the second highest priced yearling by his sire at that sale and sold for $750,000 to Clinton McDonald, who has had plenty of success with another Shane McGrath purchase in Hayasugi.

Blake Ryan Racing got a great result with a Super Seth colt from Racing Nadine that he plucked from the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft at Inglis Classic for $115,000.

Super Seth colt from Racing Nadine looked like this as a yearling selling for $115,000.

The colt sold to Hong Kong based  buyer Harry Tsang for $550,000.

KBL Thoroughbreds smashed it out of the park with a Tagaloa colt from La Magique that was sourced from Magic Millions Adelaide for just $10,000 out of the Merrivale Farm draft.

Tagaloa colt from La Magique looked like this as a yearling selling for just $10,000.

He is from the first crop of the Blue Diamond winner and is also the first foal of his mother, who is a minor winner by Magic Albert from a family that goes back to top class European bloodlines.

He produced the fastest breeze of the sale in 10.19 and was bought by Chow Chun Tak Andrew / Wong Ho Hei Lawrence for $440,000.
