Sans Doute Launches Late in Bob Hoysted Handicap

Mark Smith - Saturday March 30

The 4-year-old Not A Single Doubt mare Sans Doute has looked a different horse since switching to Te Akau Racing’s Cranbourne stable, stretching her winning run to four in Saturday’s Listed - ATA/Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) at Flemington.

Ridden by Michael Dee for Mark Walker, Sans Doute exploded down the outside of the track from last to defeat the Starspangledbanner gelding Najem Suhail by a head with the Supido entire What You Need a length back in third.

With her first stakes-win, Sans Doute advances her record to seven wins, four seconds, and a third from 15 starts with earnings of $391,757

“Mick’s (Dee) ride was 10/10. We spoke before the race to try to drag her back around the field and down the outside,” stable representative Ben Gleeson said.

“He was patient; he knew her turn-of-foot was elite and it was as perfect as we had hoped.

“Her confidence is skyrocketing.

“It is hard to believe that she was running at Seymour a few months ago and running plain.

“We had a chat about her tactics and that win at Flemington made all the difference. Since Mark said to use those tactics, it has made all the difference.

“Following the Seymour run, we wondered if she still had it in her. Mark said to use the facilities and see how it goes. She spent about two weeks in the sand hills doing basically nothing.

Sans Doute a $300,000 Inglis Easter yearling

“It changed her mentally and the facilities single-handedly turned her around.

“The four weeks between runs has worked for her brilliantly.”

A $300,000 purchase for David Ellis / Andrew Williams Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Sans Doute is the best of four winners from as many runners for the unraced I Am Invincible mare My Prerogative.

A half-sister to the Listed Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes winner Given (Canny Lad), the dam of stakes-winner Green Roller, My Prerogative was a $160,000 buy for Greg Ingham from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.

My Prerogative has an unraced 2-year-old Showtime gelding named Showpower and was covered by Showtime last spring.

Sans Doute comes from the penultimate crop of Not A Single Doubt and is his 83rd stakes-winner.
