Spangler Wins $750,000 Little Dance for Australian Bloodstock

Australian Bloodstock have been big investors at the tried  horses sales in Europe again this year and Spangler (IRE), a Starspangledbanner gelding they purchased at Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale in 2021 for 55,000 guineas got the cash at Randwick on Cup Day in the $750,000 ATC Little Dance (1600m).

Trained by Kris Lees, Spangler has been racing well this year winning the $500,000 Provincial Championships Final back in April and placing in the Group III Newcastle Cameron Handicap in September.

He was strong to the line for Tommy Berry to win the Little Dance by a length over Group I Winner Lion’s Roar taking his overall record to five wins and five placings from 17 starts with prizemoney just shy of $1million.

gler is the best of three winners from Sixpenny Sweets and owes his grey colouring to his dam sire Dalakhani.

Spangler is another quality performer for Starspangledbanner, who continues to make his presence felt right around the world. In 2023 alone, he has produced 12 stakes winners in seven countries and winners in 14 different countries.
