It’s Neck and Neck

Tara Madgwick - Thursday October 26
The Australian Second Season Sires list is an intriguing battleground as we move through spring with Pierro in front on earnings, while his former racetrack rival All Too Hard leads by winners, with both stallions represented by smart winners on Thursday.

Cabierro as a yearlingPierro sired the first winner at Ballarat on Thursday with Anthony Freedman producing promising three year-old filly Cabierro to score a dominant win as favourite at her second start.

Third on debut last month, Cabierro blitzed her rivals to win the 1600 metre maiden for fillies with authority.

A $155,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Michael Freedman Racing from the Strawberry Hill draft, Cabierro is the fourth winner for Danehill (USA) mare Living Hell, a daughter of Melbourne Cup winner Jezabeel.

Cabierro is the 12th winner for Pierro this season and is his seventh winner in the past six days.

All Too Hard put a winner on the board at Hawkesbury where All Too Huiying made it two wins in a row when saluting over 1800 metres.

All Too Huiying as as yearlingGroup II placed last season at two, the Gary Moore trained All Too Huiying took a while to break his maiden but is obviously headed well and truly in the right direction now.

A $150,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for his trainer from the Mill Park draft, All Too Huiying is a half-brother to Group I winner Happy Trails and Group III winner Danish Twist being the sixth winner for terrific producer Madame Flurry.

All Too Hard has sired 18 winners this season, but trails Pierro at this stage by earnings and stakes-winners.

If you have a mare booked to either this spring there is every reason to be optimistic about their long term prospects.

Pierro stands at Coolmore at a fee of $49,500 and All Too Hard at Vinery at $44,000.
