Bright Future Tipped for Invincible Filly

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 16

The colours of prolific Hong Kong owner Bon Ho were carried to victory at Canterbury on Wednesday when talented I Am Invincible filly Untouchable Legend produced a dazzling last to first effort to break her maiden in style.

Trained by Team Hawkes, Untouchable Legend was thrown into the deep end at her second run last preparation when finishing sixth in the Group III ATC Magic Night Stakes behind Steel City.

Spelled after that performance, she returned to run a luckless fifth to million dollar I Am Invincible colt Caballus at Randwick in a Saturday race and appreciated a drop back to a fillies maiden to open her account.

Allowed to find her feet and get into a rhythm by Jason Collett, she flew home to race past the favourite Tautou and win the 1200m contest by a length  running away.

“He got her into a lovely rhythm and she relaxed beautifully when she came round the corner,” said Michael Hawkes.

“The part I loved the most was the way she really attacked the line. It’s onwards and upwards and she’s definitely going somewhere.”

Untouchable Legend was a $550,000 Inglis Premier purchase.

Untouchable Legend was a $550,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Legend Racing from the Silverdale Farm draft and is the first winner for Group I placed Savabeel mare Endean Rose (NZ).

Silverdale Farm sold a Deep Field filly from Endean Rose at Inglis Easter this year with Legend Racing purchasing her as well for $320,000.

Endean Rose has another filly by Deep Field to follow and is due to foal to Snitzel.

Yarraman Park’s reigning champion sire I Am Invincible has made a fast start to the season and already leads by earnings and winners with two stakes-winners in I Am Me and Tiz Invincible.
