Newgate Farm’s Russian Revolution has an amazing season and is the leading Australian second crop sire by winners, earnings and stakes-winners with the Benchmark 78 event over 1100m at Randwick on Saturday producing a rare trifecta for this most exciting of young sires.

Leading the way was the Michael Freedman trained gelding Insurrection, who was sent out favourite with Zac Lloyd in the saddle and he did enough to run down Brudenelle to win by the best part of a length with Secret Revolution on third place.

as back to back metro Saturday wins for Insurrection and there are more wins in store for his big group of Darby Racing owners..

A $150,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Ascot Park draft for Darby Racing / Will Johnson Bloodstock, Insurrection was bred by Bob Hannon and is the first winner for Marple Miss, a metro winning three-quarter sister to Cox Plate winning Group I sire Shamus Award.

Insurrection is another good Inglis Classic purchase for Darby Racing.

Insurrection has the consistent overall record of four wins and seven placings from 15 starts with prizemoney topping $400,000.

Russian Revolution also added a new two year-old winner to his tally with a debut victory at Gawler for Mintulee, his 18th Australian 2YO winner of the season.

Russian Revolution will be fully booked at a fee of $88,000 this spring.
