Pride of Dubai Strikes Again

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 22

Pride of Dubai continued his resurgence as a serious stakes sire with another new stakes-winner on Saturday when My Khalifa took out the Listed SAJC City of Adelaide Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville.

Trained by Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle, the four year-old gelding posted four consecutive wins towards the end of last year and has been working back to his best in his last two runs.

Trying Black Type company for the first time, My Khalifa rose to the challenge charging to the line to finish over the top of his rivals.

He scored by more than a length to take his overall record to eight wins and six placings from 24 starts with prizemoney topping $286,000.

A modest $17,000 Magic Millions Weanling Sale purchase for  Gordon Richards Racing from the Sledmere stud draft, My Khalifa was bred by Rifa Mustang and is the first winner for unraced O’Reilly mare O’Reilly’s Charm, a daughter of Group II winner Sequential Charm.

O’Reilly’s Charm has a weanling colt by Dubious and was covered last year by Ilovethicity.

PRide of Dubai

My Khalifa is the 19th stakes-winner for Pride of Dubai and is his seventh in Australia this season.
